Domino's Wintry Deer Delivery??? Brrrr....
So Domino's is taking a page out of Santa's book on efficient winter transportation. The global pizza chain, which has already invested in high-tech delivery methods like autonomous robots, drones, “zero-click” ordering apps and satellite tracking to deliver food, made an attempt at training reindeer to transport pizza pies. Yes, you heard it! Reindeer delivery was a part of Domino’s Japan’s contingency plan to bring pies to their pizza loving customer during the cold wintery season. The chain store did a trial period of training exercises to determine if its reindeer delivery initiative is feasible. The technique involved insulated pizza containers strapped to the reindeer’s backs. The reindeer would pull sleds carrying fresh pizza. Each sled would have a GPS that tells customers where their pie is — just like with human deliveries. Turns out, only Santa has the ability to control and train the antlered animals. After a rough test run, the company said the animals were "difficult" to control. How deer they try to steal Santa’s thunder! However, rather than give up the idea entirely, Domino's is decorating their delivery scooters to look like reindeer. Hats off to you Domino's in Japan for your innovative attempt, and your confidence in the success of this new idea. You see, Domino’s Japan was in the process of changing their normal delivery icon to a reindeer. This unusual method for transporting pizzas is just one of several delivery methods being tested by the chain. In March 2016, Domino’s unveiled the world’s first autonomous pizza delivery drone in Australia. Most analyses suggest that autonomous vehicles will eventually prevent over half of the 35,000 deaths that occur on American roads each year, and some reports are much more optimistic. But apparently this good news comes with an unintentional consequence and concern. You see fewer organs will be available to hospitals for patients who need transplants. In the United States it is reported that hospitals around the country are currently struggling with the short supply of human organs. The hospitals are saying that they do not have enough donated organs to take care of the patients who need transplants. Their concern is that one in five organs used in transplants come from vehicular accidents. So when the number of automotive-related deaths plummets from self-driving cars, one of the most reliable sources of healthy human organs and tissues will plummet as well. About 6,500 Americans die every year waiting for a transplant, and the waiting list for organs has nearly doubled in the past 18 years, from about 65,000 to more than 123,000. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------This Story Is Called The Incredible Sulk...and here’s the reason why.... A Japanese father-of-three speaks to his wife for the first time in 20 YEARS after an extraordinary ‘sulk’. The wife, Kata-yama Yumi, would have normal conversations with her husband, but he would never respond. Mr. Yumi would talk to his children, but would say absolutely nothing to his wife. Their son, Yosh-iki, who was concerned and frustrated wrote to a television station asking for help and explaining the strange situation between his parents. Neither of the three children has ever heard the father utter a word to their mother. Now the reason for his silence has been revealed after the couple agreed to meet in a park for a television interview. Mr. Yumi was jealous of the attention his wife gave to their children. Mr. Yumi told the show that when the kids were born his wife was very involved with their kids and quite busy raising them. He grew jealous of the relationship between his wife and the children, and refused to speak to her...that is, until their son decided to intervene, 20 years later. When Mr. Yumi finally spoke to his wife, he did confess that it has been quite a while since they talked, and that he knows that she has endured a bit of hardship. Mr. Yumi also told his wife that he is grateful for everything, and that he wants them to continue talking to each other. He hopes that they can work together going forward. As they watched their parents during this brief but notable conversation on a park bench the children cried with joy. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For complete details of the stories above, please check out the following websites: http://fortune.com/2016/11/24/dominos-pizza-reindeer-delivery-hokkaido-japan/ http://www.newsy.com/videos/domino-s-is-testing-an-actual-pizza-delivery-robot/ http://www.popularmechanics.com/cars/technology/a24570/self-driving-cars-could-cause-massive-organ-shortage/ https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/2509206/father-of-three-refused-to-speak-to-his-wife-for-20-years-because-he-was-sulking/ Close Previous Close Close
